Is DMZ mode a good idea?

Hi, I can't torrent anything because it is stuck with connecting to peers. I did some research and I bet it's the router firewall because I recently replaced it. I'm not an expert at port forwarding and all that stuff, so i looked around in the router settings and there was a dmz plus mode which allowed all applications, but was not secure. I am scared that if i put Dmz plus mode on something bad will happen. Is it a good idea if i just leave it on for the torrent?

Simply put: no.

Your system is NOT going to be secure in the DMZ.

Additionally, depending on the model and firmware version of your router, you may introduce download corruption.

Do REGULAR port forwarding.

DMZ is a very bad idea. Better enable UPnP on the router and the client.
