Dewdman42 Posted May 8, 2016 Report Posted May 8, 2016 I'm trying to figure out the best settings in torrent for private trackers. under this scenario, I typically have about 2000 torrents that I need to have sitting there waiting to seed, in a ready state, so to speak, so that when someone through the private tracker tries to leech something, I can be one of the responsive peers that uploads to them. That being said, out of 2000 or so torrents I can seed, most of the time it just sits there idle and only occasionally one of them will fire up and upload a bit to some leecher somewhere. I am not at all sure I have the torrent peer settings setup ideally for this kind of scenario, and would appreciate some advice about that. I have read so much conflicting information around the web and heated debates on this forum about how queuing is supposed to work, but it kinda seems like the queuing mechanism in utorrent, and the typically recommended settings; are oriented towards more of a situation where its expected that all seeding torrents will be pretty active all the time, as opposed to the situation I just mentioned where 99% of the time several thousand torrents are siting there idle and only occasionally one of them will perk up and upload something. I have true 100mbit fiber optic connection to the WAN. So what would the ideal settings be for this scenario I have explained? The main settings I am aware of and not sure how I should set them, are: Connections->Global Limit Connections->Per Torrent limit Queues->active transfer limits Queues->active downloads limits I'm on Utorrent 1.8.7 (OSX). I've also been trying to compare a use case with rtorrent instead of utorrent for this seeding task, and it has a different set of parameters, which are also not entirely clear to me what would be the best way to configure it for the above task, if anyone has any advice about either scenario, all tips welcome.
