CallistaZM Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 I started a torrent 8 hours ago and went to bed. This morning it's still "downloading metadata" despite the seeds column showing 35 (4) and peers in the 200s. It's a 126mb file so it's not huge. 3 of the trackers are showing invalid URL or connection timed out, but one says working and DHT, local peer discovery, and peer exchange are all showing working. I started two other files at the same time as this one and both finished quickly. I have never seen this problem before ever so I'm clueless as to what could be causing it.
DreadWingKnight Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 What internet security software do you have installed?
CallistaZM Posted June 6, 2016 Author Report Posted June 6, 2016 I use the free version of Avast on my computer and I have Spybot-SD Resident running, and neither has ever before interfered with any torrents. I have torrented frequently from the same group of sites using only uTorrent for years now and this is the first time I've ever encountered this issue. Edit 1: In fact, nothing has ever interfered with my torrents other than throttling from my internet company. Even with that, I typically get speeds up to 4mb/sec. The only other times I haven't been able to download something are when there were no seeds. This has been consistently showing 30+ seeds and 200+ peers since I started it now 12 hours ago and it still says downloading metadata. Edit 2: Also at the same time I started this torrent, I started two others from the same torrent site with the same exact trackers between them. One of the 3 finished in a few seconds, the second finished sometime during the night while I was asleep. So it's not an overall downloading problem. I have other torrent files seeding successfully right now too. So it's not an overall connection problem. It really seems like something specific to this torrent but I have no clue what.

DreadWingKnight Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 If the original torrent is private flagged, the metadata will never download.
