Fen Lothbrook Posted June 13, 2016 Report Share Posted June 13, 2016 Hello, I recently just purchased a new computer and redownloaded Utorrent onto it. On my old computer, I never had any problem with Utorrent and it worked perfectly. It was Windows 10. This new computer I had once I downloaded Utorrent it just keeps giving the message of "Not responding" and won't let me do anything. I have to end the task with Ctrl+Alt+Del to be able to close the program. The new computer has McAfee, I tried to disable the firewall to see if that was causing it but no dice. It is also Windows 10. Just can't seem to figure out why the Utorrent 3.4.7 keeps not responding. I have also tried running it as admin. Any help would be appreciated. Frustrating when a computer 10 years old runs this fine but a newer super computer can't seem to do it. Thank you in advance! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Oak. Posted June 16, 2016 Report Share Posted June 16, 2016 I am having the same issues. Same version, however I do not have McAfee installed, and uTorrent has an exception in my firewall currently. Currently I have tried running in several compatibility modes, including Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP (Service pack 2), Windows XP (Service pack 3). Same issue happens in BitTorrent. At the time I updated my Nvidia Drivers and thought that was the problem but after reverting and making a clean install of Nvidia drivers the problem persisted. I am on Windows 10 (regular updates) and as far as I know there must have been a Windows Update somewhere at the same time (around may 22th) that screwed up uTorrent. I have looked and tried a different possible solutions but nothing have worked thus far. I havent changed or installed anything else during the timeframe so a Windows Update is the only possible culprit. Now, I can get uTorrent to start it just takes a really long time. If I start it and let it be the window will pop-up after a few minutes. However, the GUI in uTorrent experiences the same problem. If I try to go in to a menu or the like I again have to wait for a few minutes. So I can technically use uTorrent but its so slow to respond that it gets annoying. Especially if you want to try out several different torrents in order to find more seeds or what what have you it can get really annoying. I should add that this problem manifested itself on uTorrent 3.4.3 and updating to newest version didnt help. Havent tried the Beta-version yet. Windows compability mode doesnt remedy the problem either. Edit: The last torrent that I downloaded without problem with uTorrent was at May 8th 2016. I first noticed the problem at around May 22th. So the problem is probably a Windows Update released within that timeframe. Edit 2: After some light research I suspect that the problem might lie with the Windows Update kb3140741. Apparently a lot of problems have had various problems with that perticular update. The kicker is that you cant uninstall that update, unlike every other update. Your only option is to go to an earlier system restore point, an earlier backup or do a clean install. Now I am not sure that its kb3140741 that is the problem but it seems plausible to me.
