lordninian Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 I have the same problem, only way I can get utorrent to launch is by disabling my Norton :S
Ultima Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 If Norton's causing problems, then remove the µTorrent rule from it. Or uninstall it and get a better firewall. If it's not Norton, try clearing settings.dat* from %appdata%\uTorrent and trying again.
lordninian Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 I tried removing the utorrent rule from Norton but that led to my computer crashing. I uninstalled Norton and now have Zone Alarm as my firewall and AVG as my anti-virus...however my internet has now completely slowed though utorrent is working! It may be a problem with ntl but perhaps not...
Ultima Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 Is the internet slow only when µTorrent is running, or just slow in general?
lordninian Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 ONLY when utorrent is running, as soon as I close utorrent the internet returns to normal speed. Could you help me?Also, I don't know if this is common but my download speeds in utorrent are around 15 kbps and at maximum 40 kbps, yet I have a 4MB connection...
Ultima Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 Make sure you limited your upload correctly (run the Speed Guide to be sure). If that doesn't help, try patching TCPIP.SYS, assuming you're using Windows XP w/ SP2. If that doesn't help, disable DHT. If that doesn't help, limit your max global number of connections.
lordninian Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 I'm sorry...I'm not great with computers. In fact, I don't know how to do anything you just said, except to open the speed guide.
Switeck Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 Try lower settings in speed guide. They may actually result in faster results. If you have xx/384kbit upload speed, use the xx/256kbit one -- then manually enter faster upload speeds. It's usually the sheer number of connections rather than their speed that knocks flakey hardward down.
Ultima Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 http://www.lvllord.de <-- patch for TCPIP.SYSRight click the light in the status bar to find the DHT thingNumber of connections can be found in the preferences
