Osiris3.0
Until about a year ago I had AT&T as my ISP, and didn't have any problems, but it was a 3mbps DSL connection. So I switched to Comcast to have a faster connection.Almost right away I noticed that I kept having connection problems.I soon realized it was because I had utorrent open and as long as it's open my connection keeps popping in and out all the time.It doesn't just stay down. It'll be working one minute then I click on a link if i'm googling something, for example, then I get a message saying"Site can't be reached", or "No internet connection".Now it's gotten to the point that after having utorrent open for a while my connection will be out for half an hour, or more.At first I thought it was because I was saturating my connection.I haven't been downloading much, but I leave utorrent open all the time to seed back up.I capped uploads to about a third of my upload bandwidth and not only did that not help, but my connection drops almost right away whenever I open utorrent before it's even had a chance to start downloading, or uploading anything. Then, as an experiment I downloaded and installed deluge, another torrent client, to see if I would have the same problem.I didn't.My connection works just fine when that's open, so it seems to be something about utorrent that's causing the problem, but I don't want to switch because I like utorrent.I'm using utorrent 3.4.7(build 42330), windows 7 professional, and a Comcast xfinity modem/router.Any help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated because this is driving me crazy. Osiris3.0
Does limiting the number of global connections afftect DHT nodes, or does it only apply to peers?
DreadWingKnight
Traffic to DHT nodes is not counted against global connections due to the type of traffic generated and the number of packets sent (1-5 packets total per transaction, UDP)
Osiris3.0
So, that's a no?I'm not entirely sure what you said, and would like you to explain it to me as if i'm a 4-year-old.In any case, Disabling DHT seems to have done the trick.I didn't respond sooner because I needed to be sure, but I haven't had another connection drop for few days.I don't really understand what DHT is, or what it does which is why i'm asking about it because now I want to know how disabling it is going to affect my torrenting, if at all.
