Zeroninety
I was often getting 100+ kB/s with 1.5, but after updating, I'm now lucky to get 30. I'm also getting very low seed counts; most distressingly, downloads tend to stop after around half an hour, bringing up an "Error:The Pera" message. I know it has something to do with my setting, but I don't remember what my 1.5 settings were. My speed is at 512k, on Windows ME. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Zeroninety
It downloaded in about 4 minutes, mostly around 500 kB/s, with a peak of 79 seeds.
Ultima
Then the problem probably lies with the torrent you're using. Just for kicks, try this torrent: http://releases.ubuntu.com/6.06/ubuntu-6.06-desktop-i386.iso.torrent
Zeroninety
That one's downloading as fast as the earlier one did.Perhaps it its the torrent, but i find it a little surprising, because i've been downloading files from the same (very large) torrent for the last couple weeks, without any of the problems I've had since last night. deeppal
U dont have to use the latest version just coz its the latest. Go back to a version that works for u, at least till maybe another version comes out, and see if that works for u.
woody3
im having the same problem after updating to 1.6 ive had nothing but problems, ive never had the green light evern with the old 1.5 version but have been able to download anything no worries with real fast speeds, I dont have a router im connected directly to the net. Considering utorrent does not contain a uninstall file how does everyone wanting to revert back to the older version of utorrent they had including me? As the new version is just creating that many problems that its not better than the old version. How does one go about rolling back there utorrent please? I hope its not a dictatorship. "Download latest or nothing"

Switeck
v1.6 may be more aggressive with its DHT UDP useage and TCP ip-to-ip connection rate. For borderline hardware using the same settings, v1.5 may work fine but v1.6 causes nightmares.Try lower settings (fewer connections, disable resolve ips, disable DHT, etc) and see if that helps. Zeroninety
Just google utorrent 1.5. Some sites still have it.I've looked around, but every site I find just links to utorrent's own site, which, of course, isn't letting you download 1.5. Where did you find it? T_h_e_o
I also faced the same problem when I upgraded to 1600...This happend because with the upgrade all my optimized settings went back to default.I reoptimized them and everything is back to normal.Edit: I removed a link to 1500 version, since it's no longer valid. Daniel2
Try changing these settings in the advanced preferences. They boost my connection speeds, if its too much for your router please lower the settings.net.max_halfopen op 200bt.connect_speed op
Daniel2
Also try increasing the settings in the bittorrent section of the preferences.I have set :Global maximum number of connections to 120Maximum number of connected peers per torrent to 50Number of upload slots per torrent to 3.If torrent works, DHT and Peer exchange do not need tobe on.And if your router can't handle it. Lower these settings.
Switeck
net.max_halfopen op 200bt.connect_speed op 300Those settings will cause most people problems.I personally have net.max_halfopen set to 4 and bt.connect_speed set to 10. I have seen download speeds in excess of 600 KB/sec with my settings, because connecting to peers faster isn't as important as staying connected.
