DustyRider
So I use my landlords wi-fi and I've been using uTorrent for 4 years happily. But now he says the ISP gave him a first strike and they know I'm torrenting. Is there any way to hide my activity from the ISP? He has Verizon fiber-optics internet, and he said there's no way I can hide because of that. Now I'm not good with this whole thing pc/internet (I know what I need) but I'm a quick learner. PiusX
Nothing we can do here that is up to you and your ISP and to stop torrenting tracked movies and software. Also we don't help one circumvent your ISP policies.
NYStan
Chances are you accidently downloaded a fake movie put up by the movie companies to see who is downloading. They got your IP or DNS info when you were downloading and in turn contacted the ISP and they contacted your landlord and we all know what happened. The ISP will know everything you do and if you keep a low profile for a month or 2 they won't bother checking what your doing. To prevent this from happening again in case by accident you unknowingly download a movie or an app you didn't realize was illegal. I would never knowingly download something illegal but we do want to protect our identity from those that would want to do us harm. You need to get a good secure VPN that will work with torrents but you must also stop the DNS leak. Even though many people have a very good VPN they don't realize just about everyone has a DNS leak that must be patched up to be completely anonymous. You can find free addons for you browser such as WebRTC, DNS Flusher and some others. The addons are a temporary fix you will ultimately need to open the computer command prompt window type in some commands to reconfigure the computer. If you do a search on DNS leaks you will find plenty of information on the command codes for the computer you're using. Once you do that you will find multiple sites to run a check to see if you have any DNS or IP leaks. Try 2 different sites and if everything comes up clean you're good to go. If you wanted to take the last step you could change the DNS and IP#s but this takes more computer knowledge as you could really screw up your computer if you did something wrong. First part is totally wrong they keep a record don't think for a moment they will let that one slide. Months or years they will know so this poster is giving misleading information. Stop torrenting tracked movies and that will stop them. That is your only way to keep your Landlord from turning off the internet. VPN is not even a guarantee that they stop your VPN if you torrent and it violate your TOS. So this poster doesn't have a good knowledge background to be of help to the poster. Best advice stop torrenting tracked movies.....EOD.
DustyRider
Who says I'm downloading movies? 97% is music, might've downloaded few TV show episodes I missed. From the looks of it, all of this is about movies not music (must've been a bad batch of "It's Always Sunny")

Regardless of whom the artists music is download and get tracked. If one doesn't listen to stop downloading tracked movies and music then your internet usage will be short lived. Do you actually believe your ISP will watch you for months or years? The only reason they said anything to the landlord was because whatever DustyRider downloaded was being tracked by whomever put the torrent up. The ISP will watch for a month or 2 to cover themselves and if DR keeps a low profile within that time they won't bother anymore. A VPN alone won't hide what DR getting rid of the DNS leak will prevent having your ID getting exposed. I listed everything to stay under the radar and it works. Just do some research on DNS leak thats the reason why people get caught all the time. Get rid of the leak and you can download at will.
