sweef Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 I'm have WinXP Pro SP2 and Windows Firewall enabled. When I start utorrent on windows startup I allways have this error: "Error opening Windows firewall: 0x800706D9". When I close utorrent and restart it the error message is gone.I suspect that because of timing issues during windows startup the error happens and if utorrent would try to open the port again after 2 minutes the problem would be solved. Build 473 was showing message about success to map the port (and was showing success message each time he tried), but buld 474 doesn't show sucess message.Does build 474 retries to map the port and after how many time?
Ultima Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 Yep, it is because of timing, and this should be fixed because µTorrent waits 10 seconds before trying to open the firewall... Looks like the amount of time isn't enough for some people... looks like a configurable time might actually be needed...
sweef Posted July 4, 2006 Author Report Posted July 4, 2006 Yep. This should be configurable. And also the number of retries.
sweef Posted July 4, 2006 Author Report Posted July 4, 2006 I checked the log again and it seems that utorrent retries to map the port every 20 minutes. I belive after first fail retry needed after 2 minutes.
Ultima Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 Mapping is only for UPnP, not Windows Firewall.
Ultima Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Might Startup Delayer help with your problem?
