flames712 Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 Ever since I installed the Windows Anniversary Update, my PC will always get a BSOD when uTorrent is running. I have identified that it is indeed a driver problem with my WLAN card, but it only happens when uTorrent is running. No other download/upload program is effected. I'm running 2.2.1. The BSOD is always a THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error. Edit: Removing and reinstalling the driver does not fix it. Torrents also seem to not seed.
DreadWingKnight Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 BSODs are ALWAYS ALWAYS caused by other stuff. uTorrent is a user level application. It can NEVER be the root cause of a BSOD due to the layering in modern operating systems. I'm running 2.2.1. You're not supported.
flames712 Posted August 19, 2016 Author Report Posted August 19, 2016 If uTorrent is not the cause, it is only triggered when uTorrent is running, and I am unsure how to figure out what is happening.
rafi Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 I am sure you are aware that 2.2.1 has NEVER been tested by the devs under W10, so maybe you can try see if setting the exe to Win7 compatibility mode helps...

If your updated and the problem started happening then the fault is the Windows update not utorrent. Utorrent has nothing to do with Windows system files. 4 hours ago, rafi said: I am sure you are aware that 2.2.1 has NEVER been tested by the devs under W10, so maybe you can try see if setting the exe to Win7 compatibility mode helps... Actually they are using Win10 right now if read their posting carefully. It's the update the is the most likely problem.
flames712 Posted August 20, 2016 Author Report Posted August 20, 2016 I have updated to 3.4.8 and it is still happening so it does seem like the update is the problem.
rafi Posted August 20, 2016 Report Posted August 20, 2016 I am using Win10 Anniversary Update now as well plus one more update after it build 14393.51 (no WLAN, wired connection), and it's fine. I suppose if WLAN driver is the cause - stop using it until you get an update from the vendor site.

Like others and I said utorrent wasn't the problem and the updates in your Windows was the cause. I for one would've kept the older version since it worked and uninstall Windows update until they fix the problem.
flames712 Posted August 26, 2016 Author Report Posted August 26, 2016 I've been using a different torrent client without any problems so far, so I really don't know what was going on.

DreadWingKnight Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 The wireless drivers are junk, that's what causes bluescreens.

DreadWingKnight Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 Doesn't mean we can do anything to fix them.
