Robert
You should get an 8Mb connection, but:We will give you the fastest broadband connection that's available to you and your maximum speed will depend on your local BT exchange and how close to that exchange you live.So unless you're close to an exchange you won't get anything close to that.We give you a massive 40GB usage allowance each month (Combined upload and download).I don't like the sound of that =(I wouldn't worry too much about speed but you should remind your dad that if the connection does suck you'll be charged for a cutoff if cancelling before 18 months. Switeck
Try doing GOOGLE searches on the subject. Also, 40 GB of traffic a month is download PLUS upload! Were your connection going 24/7 for 1 month, that would only be 16.18 KB/sec. ...or 8.09 KB/sec down and 8.09 KB/sec up.You're going to need some low limits in µTorrent to keep from blowing your monthly limits. WebReaper
Tell your dad to get an Eclipse account. Much better value for money.
YuRi
im guessing the reason why the dad wants talk talk is because they offer broadband for free with the telephone line rental you pay.
WebReaper
'Free' is a very subjective term. We looked at talktalk, and their phone calls aren't as cheap as you'd expect (even BT compares favourably against them). Their broadband terms are rubbish, and you're locked into their contract. Not ideal on all fronts.
YuRi
my dad agreed to go with talk talk for the phone line since they told him cheaper prices but it turns out it was cheaper for us to stay with BT. I've been with Freeola as my ISP for a while now cant be more happy. Considering its ADSL i rarely ever gettin any slow downs.

Switeck
He needs to do a GOOGLE search for "TalkTalk ISP problems" or "TalkTalk ISP connection problems" before he signs away teh next 18 months to its use.
