bozotheclown
Hi there, the previous uTorrent release worked like a charm in Vista 5456 but this one freezes my entire system. The mouse doesn't move anymore, no keyboard usage, no soft shutdown, no hd activity anymore. The only way out is a hard reset.I only have this problem with this build of utorrent.Grtz,Patrickbtw. default utorrent settings
lonepie
Yeah, same problem here... good to know that I'm not the only one...Running Vista Ultimate Beta Build 5456
bozotheclown
Bitcomet 0.70 poses the same problem with 5456 but I regret to say that Azureus 2.4.0.2 with jre 6b2 doesn't cause this crapy behaviour of 5456.In part I'm happy since now I can download and seed torrents but not with my favorite or second favorite client.ow, hold on, I just had a system freeze. I'm doing some tests to figure out if it has to do with Azureus. If it does it takes a lot longer before it happens with Azureus than with uTorrent and Bitcomet. Weird. Ultima
If it's happening with multiple clients, then it's not µTorrent, but Vista... they must've changed some connection stuff.
lonepie
Yes, it seems that it does not matter which client I use, the system will hard-lock randomly after the client is launched (even if there are no torrents running). This is strange though because it was working brilliantly up until utorrent 1.6 came out. I suppose it could just be a coincidence due to an update from Microsoft on the same day...I notice in the system event log states: "TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP conntect attempts" just before the hard-lock occurs. Anyone have any input? Maybe we can figure this out, or maybe it's Microsoft's answer to anti-p2p! lol
bozotheclown
weird thing, I've been running Azureus for several (3) hours now since the latest hard lock without changeing anything. No lock up since.

bozotheclown
In Azureus is was preset at 8, I set it to 50 and Windows allmost immediatly froze after saving the settings. I've set it to two right now.I'm dying to find out how to set the limit to say 100 in Vista so this crap doesn't happen anymore.edit: setting it to 2 doesn't seem to make a difference. Firon
Well, turn off DHT perhaps?
bozotheclown
Well, turn off DHT perhaps? It's a shame but that doesn't help either. Thanks for the suggestion.
Switeck
Disable both UPnP and DHT in µTorrent.
bozotheclown
Disable both UPnP and DHT in µTorrent.did that, still freezes 5456
bozotheclown
The verdict is in:) The problem does not only occur with torrent clients!DC++ also causes the 5456 build to freeze. The strange thing is that Soulseek poses no problem at all.Would this be related to ip stack changes or would it just be a crappy disk device driver?I'm really missing utorrent
Firon
Um, I'd say a Vista issue.
bozotheclown
I'd say that's abvious but that doesn't mean it can't be solved by changeing a utorrent setting or something
Firon
Well, if all the P2P apps are crashing... I'd say no. It's also a beta (and an MS one no less), so I'd wait for the next revision of Vista before trying anything client-side.
bozotheclown
uhm, Soulseek is not causing the system to freeze and that's p2p software as well.
Firon
In any case, you're dealing with a beta OS, so it's an "if it works great, if not, great". Perhaps when it reaches an RC state or something.

Perhaps when it reaches an RC state or something. I know, it's true. It's just weird that only torrent-clients and dc++ have this effect and soulseek and other filetransfer clients work great.I was just trying to find out if this could be a problem that would be fixeable with some setting in uTorrent or not. Firon
Nothing I can think of, personally.Try um, turning off DHT, UPnP? Keep net.max_halfopen low? Lower the value in net.wsaevent by one and restart each time. :S
