flixxx Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 I have a 10mbit upload server, before I put it live I ran a speed test.I fired up a torrent on the server and had it seed. This was a private torrent and the only other connection was myself at home.At home i also have a 10mbit download connection, I paused all the running torrents and started the torrent of the server.I only got max speeds of 200k, If i load multiple torrents, it will eventually hit the 10mbit connection, each torrent will not go more the 200k.therefore I know my connection is good, since 5 different torrents will sum up to a 10mbit connection, but 1 torrent will not go that speed. All of this is with DHT and peere exchange disabled (i know it doesn't make a difference on a 1 to 1, just wanted to let you know)
Klaus_1250 Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 Could be your TCP/IP settings. Have you tried a ftp or http transfer between you and the server (not sure if that is how you ran the speedtest)?
flixxx Posted July 4, 2006 Author Report Posted July 4, 2006 1 peer 1 seed. The ony speed test i ran was with the torent. I know for a fact i have a 10 mbit connection becaus (a) that's what i'm paying for ( 5 torrents on a 1-1(the server and my home) end up at 10mbit.I think you're right, it might be the tcp/ip settings. I don't know where to start looking though.
flixxx Posted July 5, 2006 Author Report Posted July 5, 2006 Would anyone know what settings i can look into? whether Utorrent or TCP/ip
Ultima Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Probably TCP/IP settings, as many people use µTorrent to transfer over the network and get blazing speeds on the up and down ends, so it's not likely that it's any limitation with µTorrent.
