Shinelikethunder Posted October 24, 2016 Report Posted October 24, 2016 Over half of my torrents show DHT stuck at "waiting for announce..." but the rest are working normally. The problem torrents include both ones that I am trying to download and ones that have completed. What causes this? I have read the troubleshooting guide at https://depthstrike.com/2007/11/24/utorrent-dht-troubleshooting/. What, exactly, does "waiting for announce..." mean? In the troubleshooting guide, what does "Some configurations outright block DHT traffic due to the nature of the connection" mean? How does one determine whether or not that statement applies to his or her problem? What does deleting the dht.dat files do and what sorts of problems does it correct? Is that an appropriate thing to try if DHT works for some torrents but not others? DHT is a source of problems for many users, so it would be very helpful to get some technical details about DHT messages and problems posted here by one of the developers. Thanks for any information you can provide.
PiusX Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 Nothing utorrent can do about that is from their side.

Nobody on the development team knows how DHT works or what the status messages mean? I have tried deleting the dht.dat and dht.dat.old files, but that didn't fix the problem.
DreadWingKnight Posted October 30, 2016 Report Posted October 30, 2016 No. It means that the problem is not within uTorrent, but is instead elsewhere.
