aqq Posted October 26, 2016 Report Posted October 26, 2016 Hi, guys! Not sure if you are experiencing the same thing. I actually didn't want to install the new version but I just realized all the uTorrent desktop/taskbar shortcuts became not working yesterday so I downloaded and installed the latest version and learned that all my torrent info are gone in uTorrent UI. I tried to recover from %AppData%\uTorrent but I don't see any .torrent file. I also tried to reload .dat file but also got an error message saying "torrent is not valid bencoding." Do you know what happened? How should I fix it? I am using Windows 10, uTorrent 3.4.9, and my ISP is AT&T. Thanks!
PiusX Posted October 26, 2016 Report Posted October 26, 2016 So did it delete the previous utorrent data? If it did that then everything is gone and not much you can do to recover it since you installed the newer version.
DreadWingKnight Posted October 26, 2016 Report Posted October 26, 2016 Did you have a "Store .torrent files in" folder set in preferences - directories?
aqq Posted October 27, 2016 Author Report Posted October 27, 2016 Thanks for getting back, guys! Man....hope you guys don't get this happened then, really weird situation. I haven't touched the "Store .torrent files in" section in Directories so I guess I should start setting it up? Is that what I should do with new install? Good my downloads are all completed and they are all safe so I don't have to download everything again, phew..... Thanks again, guys!
DreadWingKnight Posted October 27, 2016 Report Posted October 27, 2016 There's no need to change it. It just tells us where the .torrent files would be if they weren't in %appdata%\uTorrent.
