dirtydan92 Posted November 6, 2016 Report Posted November 6, 2016 TLDR: Bought a new laptop a few months ago and downloaded the most up to date version of utorrent. Utorrent has worked on my old computers for years and it worked on this computer for the first month or so and then one day I went to download something and the utorrent client started repeatedly going responsive and unresponsive. Or perhaps a better term is delayed? Idk. Detailed: Anywayss upon trying to download any torrent as soon as utorrent opens it becomes unresponsive for 3-5 minutes. After it becomes responsive any input I give it will cause it to go unresponsive again (e.g. accepting a torrent by clicking ok). It will download torrents however, this whole unresponsive thing becomes an issue after it finishes because I dont like seeding and right clicking... waiting a five minutes... clicking stop... waiting five minutes and then waiting five minutes for it to close takes far too long. -This is not due to bandwidth or anything along those lines, i generally download one at a time. -I think this could possibly be because my new computer is 64 bit and utorrent is a 32 bit client? -Specs: GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB | Intel Core i7 6820HK | 32 GB Memory | 1 TB HDD | 256 GB SSD | Windows 10 (64 bit) -Starting to think my computer just isnt compatible with utorrent?
PiusX Posted November 6, 2016 Report Posted November 6, 2016 Screen shot of the problem and what kinda torrents are we talking about? To many generals to know what is going on. utorrent works fine on 64bit system that's not the problem.
dirtydan92 Posted November 6, 2016 Author Report Posted November 6, 2016 Theres no errors or anything to screenshot. It looks normal until I click anything, at which point it freezes up and then responds to whatever i clicked 5 minutes later. And usually movie torrents, games, music - standard stuff. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling a few weeks ago and that didn't have any effect.
Airryn Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 I've been having the same issues. There are no error codes, nothing markedly wrong, it's just unresponsive a large majority of the time. Click into Utorrent, nothing is responsive, then it will function for a moment, then you can not interact with it again, I've been having this issue for months. Downloads still work in the background, but to try and actually interact with the program is extremely difficult. It still functions in the background, technically, you just have to time your interactions for the five to ten seconds of function it has every few minutes. I don't really torrent a tonne so it's never been a real concern, but it would be nice to fix it if I could. (Force ended and reopened the program more than ten minutes ago and it's still not responsive.) I know we're not supposed to pine for the older versions, but man I certainly do.
PiusX Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 What A/V program are you using? At least with screen shot the Developers can see what is going on to do a diagnosing of the problem.
Airryn Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 Norton, it came pre-loaded on my PC. I have tried both in silent mode and standard and it doesn't seem to make a consistent difference.
Airryn Posted November 9, 2016 Report Posted November 9, 2016 I am fairly certain I tried reinstalling when the issues started, but I might be wrong, I should be able to try by end of day. Just reinstalled, same issues.
