french_epstein_device Posted December 13, 2016 Report Posted December 13, 2016 howdy yall. i'm sorry if this has been asked before, and if this has already been cleared up, feel free to say 'try looking harder dipshit' and link me in the right direction if you could. OK, so i dont use .torrents, I just drag the magnet link into utorrent. I seed the files for a few days, maybe a week, but to keep my hard drive from cluttering up and dying I then transfer the files to an external. I still have all the info and torrent/magnet info (i guess?) in my utorrent, it still has the info on the thousands of files ive downloaded. ive tried changing 'set download location' to its new home on the external, but theres still a red exclamation point next to it, and it wont seed. i've searched, but most of the people use .torrents and save them. Is there anyway I can relink the utorrent info to the files on the external so I can reseed? I have so much stuff, I feel the need to share it, and I feel selfish not doing that. Plus, I'd like to join a site or two in the future ;') thanks so much in advance! and/or sorry for wasting space
PiusX Posted December 13, 2016 Report Posted December 13, 2016 Once you move it you need to create a new torrent to point to the new location to reseed the download torrent. This is something you must do utorrent can only upload and download the the saved preferences if you change form that you need to redo the settings to make it work.
letsboldlygomotherfuckers Posted December 15, 2016 Report Posted December 15, 2016 thanks man. idk why but this site said my username didnt exist, and wouldnt let me log in, so I had to make a new account just to reply, but its me..... sorry if this is obvious or dumb... but all the files i have still have all the trackers info and everything. so my new question is, if i made a new torrent is it going to have to be seeded on its own, like its a brand new torrent? a lot of the torrents i have are very popular ones, and it'd be cool if I was included in that seed pool and not as one rando guy seeding the same file....
letsboldlygomotherfuckers Posted December 15, 2016 Report Posted December 15, 2016 Sorry, I think I get what youre saying now [correct me if I'm wrong or its too glib please] : 'you can, and it will seed properly, you just have to re set every individual file's new settings yourself'
