Still Not Connectable, downloads work but very slow.

Hi guys I have recently reformatted my computer and installed uT1.6 on the fresh install.

I am running no software firewall on my PC or a firewall on my router (which worked perfectly with 1.5 before the reformat). I have forwarded port "33002 tcp/udp" to my PC in the router and have selected this port in uT. Everything is configured properly, but when I start a download I get "Not Connectable" and the information about port forwarding and firewall, my downloads still download but very slowly.

The curious thing is that when I check my port in the speed guide it tells me that the port is not forwarded (uT is running) despite me having no firewalls anywhere.

Other info: I have a patched TCPIP.sys to 5000. I am on 2 networks my IP for the one which is connected to the internet is 192.168.1.1 while the other is 192.168.0.1 I have bound the former in uT.

Thanks in advance, I hope I get this sorted pretty quick.

Ah, I found one very bad problem -- your net.max_halfopen value is set to 5000! That probably shouldn't be set higher than 50 -- and that's only if you patched Win XP SP2's half-open limit (much) higher than 50!

Are you sure your connection can sustain an upload speed of 90 KB/sec (while seeding)?

Is UPnP disabled? (if you did manual port-forwarding, it needs to be!)

Is DHT disabled? (it seems to cause a LOT of people problems.)

Did you try Speed Guide (CTRL+G) in µTorrent to see what settings it recommends for your upload speed?

Thanks for your reply man but most of your questions are answered in my post.

Other info: I have a patched TCPIP.sys to 5000. I am on 2 networks my IP for the one which is connected to the internet is 192.168.1.1 while the other is 192.168.0.1 I have bound the former in uT.

UPnP is disabled. I have 1mbit uploads so theoretically I could sustain 120+ kbps UP. All my settings have been tested in my previous install.

This problem is extending past uTorrent aswell, none of the port forwarding to my computer seems to be working, as I found out trying to host WarCraft this afternoon. All port forwarding to my server (192.168.1.3) is still working so it seems to be isolated to my computer.

My windows install was modified to not include windows firewall either and I have no other firewalls installed so I'm at a complete loss.

I have tried resetting the router, the computer etc. Nothing.

The half-open connection limit in µTorrent should *ALWAYS* be less than the max value allowed by TCPIP.sys.

Allowing µTorrent to make 5 thousand half-open connections at once goes beyond excessive and straight to insanity. Too many networking components as well as software firewalls would simply "die" (read: crash) quietly or with lots of strange error messages with that level of traffic. That's why I said set that around 50 instead, or even as low as 4-8 to test.

v1.6 was designed to try much harder than v1.5 to reach the speed settings. Previously, v1.5 seldom came close to the connection rate specified in advanced settings.

On torrents with lots of 'hungry' peers, is your upload graph actually smooth and stable even at 90 KB/sec?

(This is to rule out other bottlenecks which can cause lower speeds.)

Keep this thread in mind, chances are if you don't know what/why it's fixed now...it'll do something weird or break itself again in the near future. Just the way software seems to work if you don't outsmart it, ...at least if it's made by Microsoft.
