Rouzax
It appears that uTorrent has sold my mail address to send me spam about VPN services. The mail address in question is only used on the uTorrent Community website.
PiusX
Nice try but your VPN or other registered site most likely sold your info not utorrent. Otherwise show proof that utorrent did so?
Rouzax
Because I use an unique mail address for each site registration based on the site URL. As you can see this is mailed to my utorrent@... address which is only used on this site and nowhere else. There is no other site in the world where I use that mail address so it can only have been sold or leaked from this site. EDIT: Just saw this announcement https://forum.utorrent.com/announcement/1-important-security-advisory/ Let's hope that is the reason they have found the mail address. Also bear in mind that the people behind SPAM use automated systems to generate (guess) email addresses. Using "utorrent" isn't unique at all as it is a dictionary word. It's no more unique than using utorrent1@, utorrent2@ or bittorrent@, bittorrent2@ etc. To truly be sure when a company sells or passes on an email, make sure to use a really unique email like "ULXNBVnn7Zml@...".
