Proxy help.. in plain English

Hi,

I have been trying to get help with proxy and utorrent for some time, however whenever I search these and other forums, I get little success... Mainly because admins jump on and blah blah in techo babble that a lay person (re - nuffy) such as myself can't understand..

I would *love* if someone can advise once and for all if this is possible and if so, advise in basic terms.. cheers !!

I am behind a proxy at work.. I use BitComet and everything is sweet as..

HTTP 1.1

proxy1.xxx.xxxxx.xxx.xx (the proxy server)

port 8080

When I attempt to replicate this in uTorrent -

HTTP

proxy1.xxx.xxxxx.xxx.xx (the proxy server)

port 8080

the tracker status states 'working'.. i can see the peers and seeds ie - 0(83) 0(3).. but no go

Use HTTPS as the proxy type and check "Use proxy for peer connections"

nope ..

now i cant see any seeds / peers... 0(0) 0(0)

and says 'connection closed by peer'

Hmm... I guess the proxy support still has some kinks to work out.

8080 is the port for a HTTP proxy server, though try the socks ones as well may work.

can you give me a heads up as to how that works?

I have tried socks4, socks5, https.. but HTTP is the only one that shows tracker status as working and the seeds and peers.. but does not download / upload
