uTorrent 1.6 freezes the system

Hi

Almost always, when I delete a downloaded file in utorrent list and close the program the system freezes(although I am able to move the mouse the system does not answer). I am not using any other program (neither firewall nor antivirus... ) except Opera@usb8.53

There is absolutely no problem with uTorrent 1.5, so I will keep using it, specially because I see no improvement on 1.6

My system is:

Windows 98SE with IE 5.00

AMD K6-III 400 Mhz

Aopen Ax59Pro

256 MB Dimm SDRAM a 100 Mhz(128 + 2x64)

Seagate ATA 66 5400 rpm, 8,2 GB

Voodoo 3 3000 AGP

Sound Blaster PCI 128

3Com 3C905B-TX

DVD dual Nec 3540A

Also, if you're connecting to the internet through a USB or wireless connection (or worse, both...and into a D-Link router) then you need reduced settings to avoid problems. Neither can handle very high connection rates or high half-open connection limits.

My HD is set as DMA

I had tried maximum connections from 40 to 70, although I had already tweaked W98 to allow 500 connections. Before changing the registry I had the same problem.

I connect through my network card to a non-wireless router (Inventel Livebox).

Anyways I highly doubt my problem is related with my configuration, because version 1.5 worked fine before and after using 1.6. It is probably either a bug or a incompatibilty problem with my system.

I was having a very similar problem, lots of processor usage on checks, stuttering music/video, etc. i couldn't change my disks from pio to dma, even through regedit. i changed drivers entirely, not just an update. now i can check with only 50% processor, even with music playing.

running pci to ata converter. now it views the card and drives as SCSI. ?. but it works.

[new drivers] mcgee
