nickjkay Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 I've found out that its now common for rootkits to be spreed on through torrents-and many of you reading this will have carried and passed them on unawares. There isn't much information on the web about getting rid of rootkits-apart from mirroring clean drives and having a second O/S to delete the deformed kernals dose anyone know of a good way of prevention?Merged double post(s):By the way 1.6 is so good-all involved take a bow-EDIT by silverfire: Please do not double post.
Ultima Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 Not installing new software? There's no real way to guarantee it, as commercial rootkits are tricky, and will bypass most protections.
Klaus_1250 Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 Don't download crackz and warez through p2p or websites is about the best sollution I can give you.
Switeck Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 ...Even Sony isn't above putting rootkits on their "Audio" CDs.
