Shanester
Greetings, When I open uTorrent and click Options > Preferences > General, I can't click the "Associate with torrent files" button because it is dimmed. How can I fix this? I would like to begin using the Opera browser, but it doesn't understand magnet links. I was hoping that clicking this button would add the protocol to Windows. Thanks, Shane. This normally happens when uTorrent is already associated with torrent files. Anyway, this may/may not help (another user having problems with Opera and Magnet links): https://forum.utorrent.com/topic/77313-how-to-configure-magnet-links-to-use-utorrent/
Shanester
Thanks for the link. That topic is now closed so I will post here. I read the post, and it refers to the following registry key: Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Magnet\shell\open\command It says to add this value: "c:\Program Files (x86)\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe" "%L" Magnet links are not working in Opera. The value I have in my registry is this: "C:\Users\Shane\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe" "%1" /SHELLASSOC The path is correct, but the argument is different. What is the difference between "%L%" and "%1"? And what does the "/shellassoc" do? Edit: someone in Microsoft Answers says to delete this registry key, and that uTorrent will re-create it correctly when it re-opens. I wanted to ask before making changes to the registry. Thanks, Shane.

I wanted to ask before making changes to the registry. You can export the key before deleting. (Right-click>Export). Then you have a copy if you need it.
