Mxavlsp.dll

After 10 months of using uTorrent with V-Com's Fix-It, I got the following error message:

"uTorrent is not compatible with 'V-Com Fix-It' (Mxavlsp.dll) that appears to be installed on your computer. That program causes severe bugs, and might cause uTorrent to crash or behave strangely, including but not limited to using up all your RAM and freezing. Please uninstall that program if you experience any problems."

Upon searching the forum, I found the following threads with similar problems.

http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=6077

While the error message may be the same, the problem is different. For a start, my uTorrent doesn't crash even if I proceed to use it. But each time I launch utorrent, I would get that annoying error msg pop-up. Furthermore, as mentioned earlier, I have been using uTorrent with Fix-It (Fix-It was installed first) without getting this error msg for about 10 months now, so why do I get this incompatibility problem now?

Obviously there must be something I did which triggered this you say. Yes, a friend recommended Avast 4 and I just wanted to try it, uninstalling Fix-It and installing Avast. But it doesn't work well with ZoneAlarm firewall so i uninstalled Avast and reinstalled Fix-It. That was when the error msg started appearing when I launched uTorrent.

Still it doesn't make sense to me why it didn't have this incompatibility issue in the past and I can still use uTorrent perfectly. Can anyone explain why and how I can get rid of the error msg without uninstalling Fix-It? I paid for Fix-It so it doesn't make sense to not use it.

unfortunately its not so cut and dried as you might like, software incompatiblity and conflicts in the windows OS is one of the bugs of all time.

I am not familiar with V-Com Fix-It, so I went to their web page...umm, alot of hot air being blown around there. But nevertheless, the pop up only suggests you may experience uT crashing, so the fact that you didn't means little. Also, the fact that you uninstall a program, does not mean you will uninstall the effects it has on your system, sometimes complete removal is almost imposible to acheive, and is not something to be undertaken lightly. Zone Alarm is a classic example, yuck! I suggest Kerio firewall as a secondary defence to your router (if u have one), Spybot S&D, and either bit deffender or AVGfree anti-virus, I use AVG because it has e-mail scanning.

uTorrent can be run as a standalone and so will not alter your system, I run it in my Linux system. Try it this way on your windows sys.

Otherwise I'm affraid there is no simple answer, except perhaps to do what so many peple have become familiar with, complete new install. Then, remember, don't install junk, esp. paid for junk. You can get all you need for free, exept you have been ripped off by BG of Windoze fame.

Thanks caf4926!

I appreciate that someone has taken the time to reply my non-critical post.

By "complete new install", are you referring to reinstalling of uTorrent?

And thanks for the advise, I'll try to stay clear of freeware next time. :)

Yikes! Reinstalling of O/S is a big thing and not to mention extremely time consuming too.

Erm how do I make a Ghost Image of my boot partition? And if I had one, and restore it, do I have to reinstall or reconfigure anything else?

yes I did mean re-install your OS

Norton ghost will do a ghost image, but I would just back up yur important data, a go fresh. if you have 2 hard drives, just move critical data to there or burn to dvd's.

basically, over time, windows will become more and more buggy, as you add and remove software, its the nature of the beast. you need to keep windows lean and clean, ie; only install what you are sure you will need. Freeware is fine, I use it all the time, my OS is free, SuSe Linux 10.1. Don't let the "Name" blow sunshine up your ass (Windows for eg) or (Norton)

You can clean up windows reasonably, without a complete reinstall, but its quite tricky, as you have to understand registry keys

As I was still curious about why this problem didn't occur earlier, I did some investigation. I found the Mxavlsp.dll file and noticed the date is different from most other DLL files. Then I check my Fix-It log and realised it was added during my last update which upgraded the program to a slightly higher version - 6.0.3.4. I figured that was why it didn't have any problems in the past.

So I wrote in to V-Com and highlight this problem hoping they would do something about it. To my surprise, they actually have a patch for it but I couldn't find it in their website when I was searching for "Mxavlsp.dll". I downloaded and installed the patch and now uTorrent doesn't give the error message anymore.

For other V-Com's Fix-It or System Suite users facing similar problems, go to the following link to download the patch. Be sure to read the "Answer" section first.

EDIT:

Hi I was wondering if you have another solution or a different website link for the Mxavlsp.dll utorrent error since the link that you put for your thread doesn't work anymore. Thanks! My email is ********1234@yahoo.com

Hi lol256, what version of Fix-It are you using?

When I upgrade to Fix-It ver 7, this problem returned. I email Avanquest and received the following reply.

The last patch that we developed for version 6 is already incorporated in version 7 so we do not have any new patch for this. About all I can suggest is you contact Utorrent and see if they incorporate them self's into the LSP stack and see if they is a specific order in which they have to load their files in order for it to work correctly. I have also requested that our testers look into this."

The only way I could get it to work with uTorrent was to disable the TSR antivirus and email scanning. In so doing, Utorrent worked without problems, but it isn't an ideal solution. Thus after my license expired, I stopped using Fix-It and switched to avast for anti-virus and perfect disk for defragmenting hdd. Perfect disk is so much better than Fix-It defrag. Neither of these programs have any problems with utorrent.

I am using the 2003 Vcom System Suite 5 VCom Fix-It. I don't know what version of Vcom Fix-it version it is. I don't have the box for it and also can you tell me how do I found out what version of VCom-Fix it it is?

Mine wasn't System Suite unfortunately. Does System Suite allow you to launch Fix-It? If so click on Help, "About Fix It" if it's available. Consider writing in to Vcom too, or you can try a different torrent program if you want to keep using System Suite.
