MrPink10790 Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 I am new to utorrent and would like to know how much data is uploaded when you seed. My internet provider has a monthly download and upload limit that resets every month. The download limit is 7.5 Gb, the upload limit is 2.3 Gb. Since utorrent can seed without me knowing it, I would like to know if there is any danger of the program surpassing the upload limitation.
Ultima Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 Yeah it can do that. If you have limits imposed on you, I find it hard to provide workarounds for going over the limit when using P2P other than using some kind program like NetLimiter (though I'm not sure how well it works). Otherwise, you just shouldn't be using P2P, as it inherently uses a lot of bandwidth.
Switeck Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 Uploading 12 KB/sec for 1 day is 1 GB. Do that for a month, and you'd be something like 13 times over your limit.Your ISP sucks, doesn't really qualify as true broadband (min of 128 kilobits/sec)...but I doubt you can do anything about that, as much of the world you use some draconian ISP or get stuck with dial-up.
