tedjohnston
Hello all.I am currently on vacation in South Korea, and I was thrilled because the fast Internet here would mean that I could do some good torrent seeding. However, whenever I try to seed any torrents, I cannot stay connected to any peers. Peers will stay connected to me for about 5 seconds, and then suddenly, they will all become disconnected. Then about 5 seconds later, they will reconnect, and then stay for about another 5 seconds. I have made sure that all the proper ports are forwarded, and have used multiple NAT port testers to check. They all say that my port forwarding is okay. I've tried toggling the lazy bitfield setting, but that has made no difference. I have also tried encryption, and that helped some. Forcing encryption allows maybe 1 or 2 peers to stay connected to me, and they get great speeds ... but that's it. I have tried several BitTorrent clients and they all have these same symptoms (encryption with Azureus gives me the same limited success, etc.).From the signs, I fear that I have one of those rare cases of ISP problems ... I am guessing that my ISP here in Korea shapes their traffic really aggressively for Peer-to-Peer networks, but this is all speculation at this point.I was hoping that anyone would have some ideas as to other things I could try. Thanks for your time.
Ultima
Sounds like you covered most of the bases... if everything's configured properly in terms of connectability, and you tried Protocol Encryption on multiple settings, then there's not much else you can do. Have you tried disabling legacy incoming connections along with forcing PE?
tedjohnston
Yes, I mentioned that already: Forcing encryption will allow only one or two peers to connect to me, but I will upload to them like normal. Disabling encryption will allow many peers to connect to me, but none of them will stay connected for longer than 5 seconds. They will then reappear after about 5 seconds, only to stay connected for another 5 seconds. Rinse and repeat. Toggling the "Allow incoming legacy connections" setting doesn't seem to do much.Any other ideas on what I else I could try?
Ultima
I know you used forced -- the keyphrase in my question was "along with."
Firon
You don't have a choice because your ISP blocks BT.
tedjohnston
Ah, sorry Ultima, I read that wrong ... but yes, it appears I have tried everything you have suggested.@ Firon, are you positively sure? Yes, I know the symptons just scream ISP problems, but is everyone sure there is nothing else I could try? Sorry to sound pushy, but I'm rather desperate here ... changing ISPs really isn't an option right now, and I have this wonderful high-speed connection here going to waste ...Much appreciated, tedJ
Ultima
Yeah, nothing else you can do about it.
