Need help on redownloading

I was downloading some files then it was iterrupted. When utorrent was checking the downloaded files it says there was an error and then it stopped checking. I forced a re-check a couple times to no avail. I have about 60 files and some are almost done. I erased all the files that weren't almost done and put the ones almost done in a nother folder. I then started the torrent again skipping all the files almost done. I tried putting a file that was about 80% complete in the folder that utorrent was downloading to and it over wrote the file. Is there anyway to force utorrent to re check and download from where it left off?

thanks,

I forced a re check so many times. It also has a really high demand on my processor when it is re checking. I deleted the torrent and started again I skipped the files I had partially downloaded. IS there anyway to put these files back into the download queue and start downloading from where i left off?

I forgot the download error. :( I force re check like a bunch of times. I ended up deleteing all the files except the ones that were almost completely downloaded and starting again. The problem is how can i put a partially downloaded file into the folder that the torrent is downloading to and get it to recoginize it and resume with out over writing it. Thanks for the help!

Merged double post(s):

It happened again! The error is: data error (cyclical redundancy check). can anyone help?? =(

EDIT by silverfire: The edit function exists for a reason. Please do not double post.

Check your IDE cable if you're using PATA (ribbon cable running from the motherboard to the HDD) or the SATA cable if you're using that (thinner cable). Doesn't matter which you're using, just as long as it connects the motherboard and the HDD (hard drive). Push them in to make sure the connection is good. Do the same for the power cable connecting to your hard drive. Run a scandisk to try and fix any errors. If you keep getting it, try replacing the cable. Otherwise chances are your HDD is dying.

Hello thank you for the response. I have run chkdsk but no problems were found. I also downloaded a program called Data Recovery HD workbench and it didn't find any errors either. I didn't download ScanRite as it is not free software. Could anyone reccomend some free software that might help fix my disk error? Maybe some info about my setup might help. I'm using an IBM think pad laptop and the HDD is internal.

Also I didn't really see an answer to my other question. I moved all of the partially downloaded files into another directory. I cleared the torrent from utorrent then double clicked it again to run it. All of the files started downloading again. I then moved one of the partially downloaded files over to the download directy and utorrent wrote over that file starting from 0%. I was wondering if there is a way to make utorrent start downloading the partially downloaded files I already have.

Thanks for all your help.

if µT starts again with 0% then because you have not any valid hashchecked pieces of the content at that point, or you simply failed to show µT where the valid already downloaded pieces are being saved on your HDD.

And again; a CRC error only occours if there is something wrong on your side of this deal. Either some problem with your HDD itself, its cables or some other issues with your hardware like bad RAM. CRC error is NOT a µT related problem.

Hundreds (thousends?) of µT users -including me stupid german- have no problem with µT when it comes to moving partially downloaded content from one place to another on the same HDD or even to a totally different HDD and then continue this downloading problemfree from where we stopped.

So you can choose. Either you didn't do it right, or something hardwarerelated is wrong with the systems you are using. (of course if could be that your hardware is OK but you have some Malwareinfection that corrupts the data and let the hashchecks fail)

What could help you, you ask?

make sure you read the guides again and again to rule out PEBKAC, then get a offline malwarescanner that could check your system independently from its running OS ("live-CD")

Or do some more hardware failiure checking tests; specially RAM testing for several hours!

Edit:

style and typo
