swgiant Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Ok, iam using Utorrent and TCPIP.sys is patched to 50. While using utorrent, the web totally cant load anymore. Then i set the halfopen lower than 8, the web is able to load again... How come, arent i patched the TCPIP already then why i still need to lower down the halfopen value?
Firon Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Because a lot of routers can't handle high values.
Switeck Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 And µTorrent should always have its half-open limit set less (preferably no more than 80%) of the TCPIP.sys limit.
swgiant Posted July 31, 2006 Author Report Posted July 31, 2006 router cant handle high values? which value r u pointing at? TCPIP.sys or value of halfopen stated in utorrent?
Firon Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Yes, many routers can't handle a lot of connections being opened at once.I speak of the value in net.max_halfopen.
