buck0wens Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 I've been using Utorrent for quite a while and never had any problems before. I just joined demoniod to get a certain torrent and grabbed it no problem. It seemed like a nice site so I let it seed for a week but didn't visit the web site. Utorrent was reporting a 4.67 ratio so I figured I should go use some of my credit. I get to demoniod and it says I have a 1.88 ratio. I never noticed this discrepency before on other torrent sites but I've never really kept track either. I'm wondering where the problems is and if I can force Utorrent to send the stats that I deserve. I talked to someone else and he has noticed similar problems as well with utorrent on different sites.THX for any information you can share with me,Buck
Ultima Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 AFAIK, Demonoid doesn't update the statistics until 24 hours after you stop the torrent. Anyway, last I remember, their tracker seems to have problems gathering statistics, it's not µTorrent sending incorrect statistics.
buck0wens Posted July 30, 2006 Author Report Posted July 30, 2006 THX for the info. I know they only update their web page every 24 hours but I didn't know you had to stop the torrent to get your credit. That seems a little weird to me. It's been 24 hours now and my ratio hasn't changed despite continued uploading. Anyway, I'll stop the torrent and see what happens.Thx again for the answer.
HillJack Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Demonoid updates your stats based on the IP address you login from.If you login from 1.2.3.4 and seed from 1.2.3.5, then your account stats will not be updated since your IP is not associated with your account. If you login from 1.2.3.4 and seed from 1.2.3.4, then your account stats will be updated properly.I've been using Demonoid for months and my stats were always 1 byte download, 1 byte uploaded and 1.5 ratio (go figure); essentially never updating. Then a few weeks ago, I realised Demonoid was doing it like some private trackers (based on the IP you logged in from) and logged in using my secondary IP (where uT runs from), and poof, now my stats are updated correctly, everyday.
cj4258 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 ok piggybacking off of this issue...my ratio problems are on many trackers that update on the normal basis, that is 20-30 minutes or between announces. furthermore my ip address is static.utorrent shows that i have uploaded about 400mb total - overall on that torrent. tracker's site says i've only uploaded about 80mb total - overall on that torrent. announce, and the tracker will show an increase, but nowhere near the amount that i have uploaded since the last announce. site says i've uploaded a few more mb, when in reality i have uploaded 30-40mb since the last announce.i think utorrent may be reporting the wrong stats. no, i am not using any kind of ratio cheater. DHT is off. using utorrent 1.6.i. am. stumped. and so is anyone i talk to on IRC about it. help? anyone else seen this kind of stuff?
Ultima Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 I highly doubt it's a µTorrent issue, seeing as how no one else has claimed the same thing before (or at least not successfully anyway; previous claims of inaccurate announces have, IINM, been "debunked").
cj4258 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 but if the issue occurs on several trackers then i can't trace it anywhere else, you know?could a slow system clock have anything to do with this?
Ultima Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Mm... I suppose that could be possible, but I'm not exactly sure how µTorrent counts its time.
cj4258 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 that's about all i got left. i've known my CMOS battery has needed attention for a while. if i can get it replaced i'll reply with results.
Ultima Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Alright, thanks for the heads up on the idea (I would've never thought about it ). Good luck
cj4258 Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 its pretty clear to me at this point that my stats are not reporting to trackers at all when my system clock is wrong or behind. when i set it back to the correct time, announces become regular again and stats report as they should.on a related note - it ain't my CMOS battery! just some other problem to find...
Ultima Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 You sure it's not malware taking your computer down?
cj4258 Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 this clock problem i've noticed since i built the durn thing. its a software conflict somewhere.
Ultima Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 =XIs there any process contantly eating at CPU time?
Switeck Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 Also looking for DLLs in yellow (not loaded in their default memory space).
wizard Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 my ratio problem is that Comcast limits upload speed to about 50k, which makes my upload time very long. Any way I can get around this, to improve ratio? I'd like it to be a bit better than 1.2
Switeck Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 I've got ComCast and have only 384 kilobits/sec upload bandwidth -- so I can only upload 42-43 KiloBYTES/sec.
