Help on understanding NAT Error

Hi, I just downloaded utorrent and testing it.

Notwithstanding the UPnP support abilitated, I still get an NAT error.

The point is that I'm in any case able to upload to peers.

Shall I've to worry about that?

Where Can I find information to configure UPnP correctly and get a Network OK?

Thanks

The purpose of UPnP is to relieve you of the burden of configuring. If you're getting NAT error something's wrong. Do you have a software firewall and/or router? Are they compatible with UPnP? The only software firewall I know that is compatible with UPnP is Kerio and Windows, what do you have?

The absolute simplest way to get by router setup is to put your pc in the DMZ..

DMZ = DeMilitarized Zone.. Meaning that all ports are open and directed to that machine.. You forfeit absolutely all router protection to the machine in the DMZ, it is as vulnerable as if you were directly connected to your modem.

(Also, with filesharing enabled its 'possible' to hack into other pc's on your network.)

So those are the risks..

Personally I sit in the DMZ with no security running at all and never have problems, but I couldn't care if I got hacked since I don't run a business etc..

I've XP SP2 firewall and router They're both UPnP compatible (I was using BitSpirit with its UPnP Detecter without any problem).

BTW, I just finished downloading 1.3GB file and reached 1.3 share ratio :?:

I thought the UPnP network is a pre-programmed port in SP2's firewall. Kinda funny that microsoft doesnt allow their services to work.

I figured opening that port upon detection of UPnP devices is obvious >.>

wow, that's horrible on microsoft's part if it's not on by default. UPnP is quite important.
