Binding IP address

Does this really work, any drawbacks.

I have a VPN connection for torrent traffic, and have all VPN traffic directed to one IP (192.168.1.3)

My PC has two NIC's; one set to 192.168.1.3, and the other is set to 192.168.1.9.

I have both NIC's connected to my switch.

I have set the two configurations in uTorrent:

1) net.bind_ip 192.168.1.3

2) net.outgoing.ip 192.168.1.3

I can use speedtest and it shows normal traffic on my ISP assigned IP, and when I test utorrent traffic it show the assigned IP of my VPN.

If I disable the NIC assigned to 192.168.1.3 the torrent traffic stops. I'm still able to access the internet on the NIC assigned to 192.168.1.9.

Also I'm curious about doing this by assigning two IP's to the same NIC. I would set 192.168.1.9 as the primary and then direct uTorrent to bind to 192.168.1.3. Is there any concerns doing it this way?

The problem is the opposite. I have a 200mps connection and going through the VPN I only get speeds of 25mps.

I have been successful in binding the IP of uTorrent to the second NIC. It looks to be separating traffic correctly.

I'd like to find others doing this to see if their are any possible problems?
