Cha0tika
I've patched TCPIP and no joy, bt.connection_speed is set to 20, I assume that's default, I lowered half_open before I deleted the setting and it didn't seem to help, the disconnections still display the same behaviour, although I'll do it again. I do not believe it's software because I've formatted 2-3 times since this started, although I don't know as I'm not the expert OH! And while were on firewalls, my network connection SOMETIMES says: Connected, firewalled (by nVidia I believe) It was part of my driver package and I chose not to install it, but it looks like it is built into it to some extent. When I had it on before I reformatted my computer I had to turn the firewall on and then off at every startup, otherwise I couldn't gain any access to the internet. Also I am not running a SINGLE firewall put on of my own accord, I even turned Windows Firewall off today to try and fix this, but it didn't help. Ultima
If it isn't affecting your dad's computer, the problem likely lies on your end of the network, and nowhere else. Any other security software? What network card do you have?
Cha0tika
I believe it to be onboard my ASUS A8N-E mobo. Each time I've formatted uT is one of the first programs I put on after essential drivers, so I don't think it's any of my software.

Cha0tika
"99% of the time for which question, first or second?"First."Clearing settings.dat and settings.dat.old, then patching TCPIP.sys [...]" (you did it the other way around)I'll try it."Are you limiting your download rate at all?"Yes, I was limiting it to around 150 most of the time, but it usually didn't reach that before it overloaded. Cha0tika
Wow, just as I was typing this message to say how everything was looking good it cuts out on me yet again! Am I changing my ... PPP MTU? From what I'm readin I set it lower so the pieces don't get fragmented, is that right?
Ultima
TCP/IP MTU. Check with TCP Optimizer, I guess. Check in your router configuration as well. And for now, if you haven't already, leave your download speed unlimited.
Cha0tika
MTU of both is set to 1500, we shall see what happens. µtorrent-Guest
and note that in case you have connection DSL via PPPoE protocol then the MTU is NOT 1500 but 1492
Cha0tika
Is that common? I have no clue if I have that or not. 'Tis morning and all is fine, for now!...Until it did it again, and now my net doesn't reconnect afterwards. I think a reformat is in order. Cha0tika
Hmm things seem more stable but there are still problems.. I'll try formatting and see what happens with this wacky thing.Oh and also, are there any generic drivers I can get for networking, instead of using the nVidia ones that came with my mobo? They've caused me nothing but trouble.
Ultima
AFAIK, you have to stick to the nVidia drivers (yeah, I've heard that their drivers suck).
Cha0tika
Aw ok, off to format.
