Santiagobear
Of late, I've been getting loads of "Invalid Torrent File" errors when I go to get a new torrent. What makes me think that the torrent files AREN'T invalid is the fact that in the discussion forums related to these torrents, I read "thanks" and so on, from other users, on the same day - - and high ratings as well.Is there anything that could be wrong on my end to result in this sort of error? I'm using XP pro, a direct DSL connection - - no network. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Santiagobear
No. It doesn't.I might also add that I generally have to copy the link locations and paste them into the "download location" box in µTorrent. The Firefox automatic donload system virtually never works. It tells me to save the file to disk, first, and then try to open it in µtorrent - which, of course, is ridiculous. Firon
You definitely have some kind of problem if even the OO torrent won't load.Could it be a firewall?
Santiagobear
I wish it were. I'm not using a firewall - - I keep Norton running, but that's about it. Windoze firewall was interfering with everything I tried to run, so I dropped it.I do scan, rescan, and clean my system every week. No active virii, spyware, or greyware. silverfire
If you're scanning your system using Norton, then I fully expect that there are viruses on your system. Something around 80% of new viruses are designed specifically to beat Norton and McAfee.
Ultima
Could always be some outside interference -- ISP?
Santiagobear
Heh. I also use Housecall (Trend Micro).I don't rely on any one package.
Santiagobear
I'd suspect the ISP if the problem hadn't just started last week. And it's not consistent. Some files download just fine. Others are apparently terminally invalid.
Ultima
I wouldn't rule out the ISP just because they didn't do something the previous week. Some people have their ISPs suddenly start throttling, could've be the same story here. Maybe they're testing the new system, which might explain why it's hit-or-miss. Dunno. Santiagobear
Thanks for the heads-up. I'll log into the site and see if I can read the Spanish techno-jargon well enough to see if there's anything new going on.I can speak Spanish okay - - but I'm not fluent enough to read a lot of Technical Manual stuff. Firon
Perhaps your ISP is killing the torrent transfer and thus you end up with a truncated file.Try using Tor to proxy your HTTP traffic, then try again.
