Question about global max connection

Hi all. I'm new here. But I've been using utorrent for ages and it is superb!!

Now my question. I have a 512/128 (technically, 64/16) connection. Utorrent's speed guide autoset "Global Max Connections" to 80, but I changed it to 100. By doing that, I won't be crippling my connection speed or any torrents that are downloading, will I?

You shouldn't do that. Leave the settings as the Speed Guide suggests, otherwise you're going to get overhead, which is not good.

Done. I put it back on 80.

For the main queue settings, they were autoset to 1. I put them both at 3 to allow the download of a few more torrents (I never ever set it above 3). Is this a bad idea too?

With your connection, overhead might be a problem with more torrents started =T

If anything, the most I would put it at would be 2 for your connection.

I'd say it depends on the torrents. Nearly-dead torrents with fewer than 10 seeds+peers are far easier on a connection than one with 5+k seeds+peers.

But a rule of fairness is your total upload slots should NEVER exceed your minimum upload speed. Even getting close means you're only giving out 1 KB/sec at a time to others, which is pretty sad.

indeed, u can set it normally to 1-2 active torrents, but when u find somethen with a very poor swarm u can always force-start it
