Rechecking Files is Ridiculously Slow

I'm forced to use a really slow computer for the summer and was wondering if there was any way to speed this up. Currently I cannot open the Preferences menu for some odd reason which I'm sure would be fixed with a restart of uTorrent but I don't want to wait 4-5hr. for a recheck of each gig of the already downloaded files. Thanks for the help.

the key in your question is 'really slow computer' ... theres nothing you can do about it besides getting a faster com.

utorrent wont need to recheck the files if you stop the torrents properly before closing utorrent

Your drives may have reset to PIO mode 1 (<4 MB/sec) from ultra DMA 5 or 6 (100 or 133 MB/sec).

Check your hardware settings.

Having too many processes that are always accessing the drive can slow the check down to a crawl too...these may be windows DLLs or apps running or viruses.

Yeah, it was just a really slow comp, thanks for the help though. (I've found a faster computer off of Craigslist and all my problems are solved).

So how many processes is considered "too many running" ?

I'm also having this problem....

I try to keep active threads below 50. But with Win XP, it'd be hard to keep it under 60.
