utorrent works but no other prog. can connect to net w/ it open

utorrent seems to be working just fine but a few minutes after it is running, no other program can connect to the internet. I have a Motorola WR850G router and a Terayon TJ715X cable modem w/ a Sony Vaio Desktop and have not found any known compatability issues. I have no problem when utorrent is not running, so there is definately nothing wrong with my hardware or other software. I am running the most current version of utorrent. I have port forwarding enabled on my router and a static IP set. Any suggestions?

Until someone wiser will answer:

-try decrease upload speed

-try decrease total number of allowed connections ( try less than 250, in eMule forum is mentioned some cheap HW do not like >256 connections )

-if you have non patched (TCPIP.SYS) XP SP2, set in advanced options net.max_halfopen to 8
