jkonrad
MaV's script says net.max_halfopen should be set to about 1/2 of my upload speed. The guide in this forum says it should be set to about 80% of the modded TCP/IP setting. That's a huge difference. In my case, the two recommendations come out to be 200 and 34.The lower setting appears to work better, though I'm not sure. If this is the case, someone should tell MaV to modify his script. Thanks,Jasper
Ultima
MaV's script is rather dated anyway, and doubt it's used much anymore. Just stick to the Speed Guide's settings, the settings recommended by the other script thingies were too extreme anyway.
Switeck
MaV's script shouldn't even be used as a rule of thumb for most of its settings. They're too aggressive for most networking hardware and software firewalls.
Firon
His script isn't recommended here.
Switeck
Let me go on the record to say that setting half-open connections faster than 8 is probably a recipie for disaster will all but the fastest of connections PLUS the best networking hardware. And even with them, Windows XP patches will screw that up from time to time!
