Ultima
- Ctrl+Alt+Del- Kill utorrent.exe (or whatever your µTorrent's executable file is named to)- Start > Run > %appdata%\uTorrent- Delete settings.dat and settings.dat.old- Start > Run > msconfig- Find the µTorrent entry in the Startup tab- Under "Location" if it says Startup then delete the entry from the Startup folder in the Start menu. If otherwise, navigate to the corresponding entry in the Registry and delete it- Run µTorrent
schnurlos
Perhaps you set up utorrent to "Start µtorrent on system startup" (in General settings) and its running already? You can see the green "µ"-icon on the right lower corner?
Ultima
Indeed that's what I was trying to get at, but I forgot to mention that he'd have to remove the startup entry using msconfig. *edits*
DreadWingKnight
Don't use MSConfig to disable startup entries. It makes troubleshooting problems down the road a pain.
Ultima
Does it? Hm, how should I tell him to remove the startup entry?
DreadWingKnight
You can use msconfig to locate the entry, but you need to remove it from wherever it is (either from the start menu or the registry)
deborahlane
I'm having exactly the same problem. When I go to Windows Task Manager, it won't allow me to terminate the process. I have tried uninstalling utorrent, but it's not actually listed in my add/remove programs.I am extremely un-hardware literate and need small words. (If you could. Please.)Using XP and 1.6 utorrent.
