Ultima
Um, have you tried clearing the settings?
wizguy
uTorrent has been working fine until this week. I did uninstall & reinstall. Same problem with new install. It will start a new download for a few minutes then I get the same error message "the device is not ready". I did disable my firewall & avast! antivirus as well as changing some settings (based on what I read in the faq). As a sidebar I also have BitLord and at the same time this problem started BitLord quit working altogether, won't even start a download. Anyone have any thoughts? Ultima
That's an unrelated problem that should go into its own thread. Are you using some kind of removable/external drive? Are/have your drive letters changed?
wizguy
Sorry, saw troubleshooting, thought it fit best in this thread. Have not changed any drive letters but do save downloads to an external drive.
Ultima
You are allowed to start new threads though... anyway, is the drive still connected when the error occurs?
wizguy
Yes it is. Based on where you might be going I did attempt to download to an internal drive last night, same result.
Ultima
And that was without any other torrents downloading to the external drives being started, right?
wizguy
That is correct, only one torrent and had changed download destination to an internal hard drive.
Ultima
Hm. I really don't know, so I'll just take shots in the dark. Did you remove the external drive while testing the internal drive to be sure?
wizguy
No, external drive still turned on, but not the target drive. Will try with it turned off and get back. Thanks for your time & assistance.
wizguy
Thanks for your assist. It worked, when I turned off the external drive -- no problem downloading. Guess I need a new external drive but first will try plugging into a different USB Port, just in case!?
