thefons
Hello everyone.I have Linksys router upgraded with DD-WRT firmware. On my Utorrent preferences i have the UPnP port mapping unchecked. What should i do on the preferences of my frimware, should check or uncheck the UPnP? Also, windows has a UPnP preference, should i check or uncheck? All my settings are good according to all the guides and test but I don't usually reach close to optimum connection speeds. I have cable 2MB/512. Thanks for the help.
silverfire
Define optimum. You might see subjective terms one way, but we probably see it another way.

silverfire
Try running the Speed Guide with xx/512 settings. If that decides to choke on you, try using xx/384. That should give you reasonable speeds if your ISP isn't interfering with anything.

Switeck
You may also get better performance running TCP Optimizer from www.speedguide.net -- but make sure to limit internet server connections on the 2nd tab/page to fewer than 10, or the half-open connection limit may be exceeded. thefons
Thanks for the replies. I will try and run that torrent today. I think I have tried it before and it went over 200kB/s I believe. I will also try the 384 upload setting and the tcp optimizer. Taek care all
Ultima
If you've reached those speeds, then there's nothing wrong with anything but the swarms you're connected to.
thefons
I guess it has to do with the seeder/peers. Which torrent site will you suggest? 99% of the itmes i use www.torrentspy.comThanks Ultima
Ultima
That's just a torrent index site, so their torrents come from all over the place. Private torrents seem to fare better, as there are less leechers, so maybe you might want to use private trackers? I don't have any particular favorites. thefons
Do you have to sing up and pay for private trackers. Any in particular you suggest for music and movie torrents. Sorry for all the questions!
Ultima
You normally don't have to pay for private trackers. And I don't download music and movie torrents, so no, I don't know. Use the search engines built into the µTorrent search bar, I guess.

Ultima
If you absolutely don't use UPnP, then yeah it's safe to disable both.
