Assertion Failed

I have been using utorrent for YEARS. It has always been the best client, in my opinion.  But lately, several months now, I have been getting an error mesage, ASSERTION FAILED, everytime I use utorrent. Usually, not at launch, but soon there after.

It gives me three options: Abort, Retry, Ignore. No matter what I choose it closes the program completely and ask if I want to send a report to Microsoft.

 

I have been searching the web with no luck.  Please help me correct this issue so I can return to seeding my projects.
