baller87 Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Hi i m connecting to the seeds and peers e.g 20/22 seeds and 45/120 peers but when the torrent starts downloading i only see 5 to 10 dowload speeds and sometimes drops to 3 or even 1, is there a way to download from more than 10 people. My upload limit is 9kB/s and i have set it so as many people can connect to it!
Ultima Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Not sure what you mean by setting it "so as many people can connect to it," but if you messed with the settings manually, run the Speed Guide. Better yet, you should check the first 2 guides in the µTorrent Guides page if you're new.
baller87 Posted August 21, 2006 Author Report Posted August 21, 2006 k under ip i see a lot of ips like 40 but under down speed i only see 5-10 speeds and under up speed i see like 5 speeds i wanna noe if theres a way to get more than 5-10 speeds and connect to all those 40 ips at the same time and thanks for the reply
Ultima Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 There's no guarantee for anything in BitTorrent, plain and simple. You might be able to, but have a better chance if, and only if, you set everything up correctly. Meaning... read the guides I linked to.
baller87 Posted August 21, 2006 Author Report Posted August 21, 2006 thanks for the fast reply i ll follow the guide
Nefarious Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 you could get one of the openoffice torrents to see if u still get low speeds...http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/
Switeck Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 If you have a limited upload bandwidth, such that you're only providing 9 KB/sec, you are hurting both yourself and others to allow more than 9 *TOTAL* upload slots. (Note: total upload slots = upload slots TIMES all active torrents) At the most extreme (such as 20+ total upload slots and 9 KB/sec total upload speed), it is harder on the participants of the torrent that connect to you than if you simply leeched -- as you're advertising pieces of the torrent that you'll never successfully upload to anyone. If you're uploading to others slowly, they will ignore you -- and even SNUB you if it's really slow! (SNUB=refuse to upload back to you, at the protocol level...a pretty bad state to get into with lots of peers!)If you're running just 1 torrent at a time, you can set upload slots as high as 4 without seeing lots of snubbing going on. Beyond that, expect to get little in return to the few people you ARE uploading to at any given moment!
