john.chen Posted April 12 Report Posted April 12 BitTorrent/µTorrent Web and µTorrent Lite are very similar in that they allow you to stream torrents. However, there is one major difference - BitTorrent/µTorrent Web requires that you download and install a torrent client. With µTorrent Lite, all you need is a supported browser, including Chrome, Edge, or Safari before you can stream torrents. No additional applications are needed. Below we go into more detail about each product, their distinct features, and why you might choose one over the other: µTorrent Lite Available at https://www.utorrent.com/lite/, µTorrent Lite was born from our neverending vision to offer more simplified, decentralized tools for the browser. It has many features, including the ability to: Play torrents on Chrome, Safari, and Edge Play torrents without installing a torrent client Stream high-quality torrents near instantly Stream torrents on iPads Share torrents with friends to play in their browser without any torrent apps Use it free, without ads It’s made available thanks to WebTorrent, an open-source protocol, and technology that was introduced by the developer community to power a decentralized browser-to-browser network for transferring large files. µTorrent Lite uses elements of WebTorrent to power https://www.utorrent.com/lite/, our powerful new torrent streaming website. With µTorrent Lite, you can play torrents directly on the µTorrent website without needing a software application. This allows more flexibility, including the ability to play torrents on more devices, including Chromebooks, iPads, Android, Windows, or Mac from wherever you have an Internet connection. µTorrent Web If you are looking for a web torrent client with a nice feature set that is still easy to use, BitTorrent/µTorrent Web is a great choice. It offers many advantages, including the ability to: Download any type of file to your hard drive Download multiple files at the same time Stream torrents quickly and in high quality Create a library of torrents that can be played Speed up downloads with the BitTorrent Speed feature Set download/upload speed limits to free up bandwidth If you are looking for a simple way to play video or audio-based torrent files and don’t want to install additional software, µTorrent Lite is a better option. While https://www.utorrent.com/lite/ is primarily a torrent streaming website, note that it doesn’t support downloading the files to your hard drive. Instead, it accesses torrents seeded by the community and assembles each piece of the file so the torrent can be streamed from your browser’s memory. As soon as you close the browser tab in which µTorrent Lite is running, seeding ends, as well as your torrent streaming session. If you haven’t yet tried µTorrent Lite, we invite you to check it out at https://www.utorrent.com/lite/. Please let us know what you think by leaving your feedback and comments here. Quote
