flyingbig Posted August 25, 2006 Report Share Posted August 25, 2006 When i switched torrent clients to utorrent i immediately noticed that my upload speed is up and down like a yoyo were as with my previous client it was solid to within 5kb/s. With utorrent it jumps from 65 down to 50 then up to 59 then down to 45 then up to 70 and so on which just doesn't feel right. My connection is a very stable one and i get 10mbit 24/7 so i can't understand why it can't be more stable. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

flyingbig Posted August 25, 2006 Author Report Share Posted August 25, 2006 I used bitcomet previously and it was set to default in terms of the upload settings. I set it to allow umlimited upload which gives me just over 60kb/s so if i am seeding 4-5 busy torrents surely its impossible for me to be registering as low as 48 and the fact that it even registers 70kb/s on occasion suggests that maybe utorrent is giving me a false reading? You can do this, but is not advised except some rare cases.The correct way of handling the upload matter:1. you are obtaining your upload speed. The best way is to get the info from your provider (or from the contract you've had to sign for their services). Other possibilty is to measure using special sites, like for example:http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/http://www.numion.com/YourSpeed3/The problem is, such measurement can be more or less accurate - depends where you live and the quality of network of your provider.2. use speed guide in utorrent (press ctrl+G) and choose the appropriate settings. From what you've written before I'm suspecting you having 512 or 640kb/s upload. Try both of them... if your configuration will be ok you should get a nice, very flat upload line. So you are suggesting i put a lock on my upload at say 60kb/s adn i should get 60kb/s steady rather than the fluctuation i am currently getting?
