emorgoch
Just something to consider: Do you have encryption turned on? I could imagine that uploading 10mb of data while encrypting it on the fly could start to take up some serious CPU cycles.
Speednut3
If I could get to that speed yes I agree it would cause some issue.Problem is as stated in previous poast though.Cheers
Ultima
Any chance you could connect your workstation computer to the server's connection to test the speed for us to see?
Speednut3
Now here`s an interesting update,I uploaded a large file on a samll tracker.I had 30 leechers and it was uploading at 5500kb`s which is lots better. Not one had max speed but at least the speed IS possible.Guess I need to figure out why it will give the speed to many but not to the few even though the few are capable of it! Firon
I doubt it emorgoch, the encryption method goes at about 300MB/s on a decent P4.
Speednut3
OK here is my last question to admin/coders,Does utorrent limit each connection speed?I believe utorrent does not allow each connection full bandwidth potential per connection through extensive testing. I believe it gives a percentage against each connections maximum dependant on their upload speed. Can any programmers comment please?Cheers
Ultima
No, it doesn't limit each connection.
Speednut3
Then can anyone please explain why when I connect to my server that is hosting a torrent at 100mbit I can only download from my pc on 8mb connection at 40kb`s?That is only when there is 1 seed and 1 peer - me!HELP!!!!! Ultima
Is the computer on the 8mbit/s connection set up properly? Does your router limit certain types of connections? How about your ISP?
Speednut3
No problem on my 8mb home pc. Used torrents for years.Specifically an issue with server and utorrent unfortunately.Cheers
Ultima
The last 2 questions were actually directed at either connection, but I didn't make that clear (whoops). I'm assuming you're running the server from home here.
Switeck
What settings (as shown in Speed Guide CTRL+G) are you using in µTorrent at home?...there may be a joker there causing the problems!
Speednut3
I`m using default settings for both server and home.Server is dedicated and I access remotely.Cheers
Switeck
The default settings for µTorrent are infinite upload and download speeds and rather high connection counts.Your connection probably isn't infinite...so there may be a problem there! Ultima
For people with supposedly 100mbit/s connections, the speeds he's getting indicate that he's not even close to overloading his connection, unless his connection really isn't 100mbit/s (which we still haven't confirmed). Speednut3
I can confirm the connection is 100mbit,My problem is that if I do a torrent on the server and download it from my pc, I get crap speeds.BUT, if I do a torrent and there are say 50 peers, they all get a little bit of crap speed but overall the upload speed from the server reaches 6000kb`s! Why wont the server/utorrent give better speeds to fer peers who can handle it instead of crap speeds to the many?I know it is capable of the speeds but it wont to the few? Ultima
I don't know then. Maybe your server's ISP throttles each connection for certain types of traffic, or go by a whitelist of what to allow full speed and what not to allow full speed. Switeck
Have you tried TCP Optimizer from www.speedguide.net ?Before I ran it on my system, the fastest speeds I could get was about 40-60 KB/sec -- afterwards in the 100's KB/sec on a "very slow" cable line compaired to what you have.
