Abc12346
Hi! I've just begun using uTorrent. My speed is 100/100 full duplex, no speed/mB limitations from my ISP, and no router between the computer and the internet.I live on Campus and many of my friends get max of their line when downloading from the same torrent sites as I. I have never been able to go above 3 or 5 mB per second, sometimes it goes up to 7 or 8 but only for a short period of time.My question is if my CPU AthlonXP 2000+, or RAM 1,5G maybe is the bottleneck ?Please advise,Oizo
spork985
Try to re run the speed guide, and also, have you patched your TCP/IP (assuming your using XPsp2). Also, what color is the indicator at the bottom (red, yellow, green).??
Abc12346
I haven't patched my sytem, what patch is it you're talking about ? The indicator symbol is green.thanks for the patch advice, looking for it right now
spork985
Good with the green. For the patch, make sure you need it first, to do so: 1) right-click on my compuer, select Manage option. 2) expand the Event Viewer tab, and click System. 3) Look through the Event ID column for one with 4226. If you have it, it means that your half-open connections may be overflowing due to a limit set in sp2. This is a Use-At-Your-Own-Risk patch to fix. http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=tools
Abc12346
Thank you again, had lots of 4226 warnings. Backed up TCPIP.sys, gonna monitor the system for a while to see if the speed gets any better.Ciao

Abc12346
Allright, I have monitored the computer for some time now. The speed is not improving, still around 2-3MB/s, while my friend, same ISP, uses all of his line, around 11,3MB/s. If anyone has any more tips, i would be grateful!please advise, oizo

Switeck
Have you tried TCP Optimizer from www.speedguide.net ?Read about its settings before you change anything. You'll probably need to set its server settings (on the 2nd or 3rd tab) to far lower than it suggests due to Win XP SP2' half-open connection limit. I suggest no higher than 5 for each.
