darkfalz
Guys i need help. I can only download at 20kB's and in uploading it's the same. In the log it says: "Unable to map UPnP Port." but my icone status is green. I don't have router and my modem is a Motorola SB5100 but in the past I did downloads without any problem. Can anyone help me?
spork985
Modems have configuration pages too, did you forward your ports in it?? Also, re-run the speed guide (ctrl+G).
Ultima
SurfBoards aren't routers, and don't have a configuration page, AFAIK (though it might have a diagnostics page, which is totally useless anyhow).UPnP Error: http://www.utorrent.com/faq.php#What_does_Unable_to_map_UPnP_port_to_mean.3FHave you tried this torrent? http://borft.student.utwente.nl/openoffice/torrents/OOo_2.0.3_Win32Intel_install_wJRE.exe.torrent
darkfalz
Yes I've tried with that one and it works great! But why is doesn't work well with the other torrents? It's because of the DHT?
Switeck
No, DHT is only of help on 'weak' torrents with few seeds/peers. And often DHT doesn't even help then!On torrents with lots of seeds+peers, DHT just reduces how fast you can download+upload. The OpenOffice torrent is special because some of the seeds on it are EXTREMELY fast. Many other torrents are lucky to have 1/10th that speed, even if you're on a very fast connection yourself!
Ultima
If that torrent runs fine, and you have a green light still, then everything is fine. As the FAQ entry says, you can ignore the error.
darkfalz
ok thanks guys. So the torrents that have low speeds it's because they have weak seeds?
spork985
Correct. You recieve the error message because your modem does not support UPnP most likley, this can be ignored and is not a problem.
Switeck
If you did manual port-forwarding (or don't NEED to do port forwarding, due to not having a router), then you can disable UPnP. It may even speed up your downloads a tiny bit, because it means a little less "work" for your CPU.
Ultima
Not just weak seeds, just weak peers in general. Remember that seeds are just peers with 100% of the data, but peers are not seeds unless they have 100% of the data.
