fatso-jetson
hi,i was wondering, is it possible to send and receive files from one person? something like a small network between two pc's.thank you
Switeck
Yes, using the internal tracker within µTorrent.HOWEVER, at least one or both of you have to be unfirewalled! The one acting as the tracker MUST be unfirewalled.
Alpha-Toxic
Technicaly it is, but a more "ftp-like" aproach should be better. Bittirrent is made for swarms after all.EDIT:/me too slow another way to do it is without a tracker at all, using DHT and/or manualy adding the other box's IP. But again at least one of those two comps should be connectable.
fatso-jetson
thx for the fast replies. unfortunatly we're a bit noob in all this "DHT" stuff, can you explain step by step how we should connect our pc's together?thank you for your time
Alpha-Toxic
first you should make sure that at least one of the computers is connectable from the other. Either at least one of the comps should have green indicator in the uT status bar, or they should both be in the same subnet. Then just make the torrent without adding any tracker in the tracker address field and send the .torrent file to the other box (via email or whatever). Load the torrent on the other box. Now right click in the peers tab and choose "add peer". Put there his ip and port (or he should add there your ip and port, depending on who of you two is connectable) and it should work. TheBear
To share files with only one person, you'd be better off to use DC++ in my opinion.http://sourceforge.net/projects/dcplusplus/
Ultima
Hm... I haven't been keeping up with DC++, so I'll ask: Have they added hash checking in DC++ for verifying data integrity?Anyhow, I think it'd be cumbersome to join a hub (and have someone else join the same exact hub) just to get the file transferred... DreadWingKnight
TTH-based hashes are used in current DC++ clients.
