Ultima
I don't know, I've never had it happen to me... Additionally, I don't see where it says the registry patch could make things worse. And what about the TCPIP.sys part of the FAQ entry?Edit: Don't double-post... Start > Run > regedit
diltred_1569
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/Q196271 <----- this is where it sends me. well it doesn't really say it'll make it worse but that serious problems might occur. Ultima
Making disclaimers like that is standard procedure -- they have to do that to protect themselves legally. In any case, things normally don't go wrong unless you edit a critical Registry value, which shouldn't happen if you follow the directions carefully and exactly.Try the TCPIP.sys patch too before you do that Registry patch. diltred_1569
thanks for all your help, i really appreciate it. do u think this will work?
Ultima
I can't say, as there can be different things causing your problem, but you *should* try if you want it fixed. After you patch TCPIP.sys, restart your computer.
diltred_1569
i already did the patch and restarted the computer. should i just wait to see if it works now? becuase everytime i restart my computer utorrent lets me download for a while. after like 2 hours thats when the error message comes up. Ultima
Yeah, wait a while. And actually, if it still doesn't work, then before doing the registry stuff, try disabling DHT...
diltred_1569
im sorry but what is the DHT? and if nothing works at all should i just reboot my computer?
Ultima
http://www.utorrent.com/faq.php#What_is_DHT.3FYou can disable it by right-clicking the DHT thing in the µTorrent statusbar and unchecking "Enable DHT".If NOTHING works, then I maybe that's all you can do... but you should probably worry about trying all the possibilities before worrying about what comes next
