adam stubbs
I have spent the last 8 hours trying to get the green light. I am currently able to download, however the speeds are mediocre at best. I have set a static IP using the guide on portforward.com and I have configured my ZoneAlarm firewall to allow for the specific port that utorrent is set to use. I keep reading about forwarding my port by configuring my router, but here's the thing... I only use a cable modem- no router. So unless modems are being called routers these days I dont think that I am able to forward the port. Please help!! My cable modem is an Ambit U10C018. I have searched the forums and havent found an answer to my problem. If in fact there is an aswer already on the forums or I am just being an idiot I do apologize. However, any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
schnurlos
Like the setup guide http://www.utorrent.com/setup_guide.php says, forwarding a port is only necessary, if you have NAT problems. Please follow the guide!
adam stubbs
Ok fine so I don't need to port forward, However I still have an error on my status bar and I have yet to see that green light. I tested my speed with one of the test torrents and it capped at 300kb/s. However when I tested my connection at DSL Reports it was 497 KB/sec, so should what else do I need to do to fix that network status icon. Once again I am only using Zone Alarm Firewall and I have expert rules allowing utorrent access to it;s port.
